Fendi Designer Fashions

Fendi Fashions

Fendi was established in Rome in 1918 as a leather and fur workshop by Adele Casagrande. The name was changed to Fendi when Adele married Edoardo Fendi in 1925. Fendi is unique in that it has been run not by male members of the family (of which there are none, except by marriage) but by five sisters, daughters of Adele and Edoardo Fendi, who became involved in the business after the death of their father in 1954. The took entirely took over the Fendi line at this time. Adele Casagrande Fendi died in 1978 when she was 81 years old. Fendi originally specialized in producing high-quality furs and leather goods on the Via del Plebiscito in Rome in 1925. It was at this point that the firm moved toward a more high-fashion profile, with the first Fendi fashion show staged in 1955.

The name Fendi has become a globally recognized symbol of unbridled luxury in ready-to-wear, beauty, and beyond. The FF logo is now an instant status marker, having stirred many a frenzy, especially over its famed baguettes, a fashion icon thanks to Sex and the City. Fendi designs exude elegance and sophistication and are perfect for professional individuals looking for a classy wardrobe. Their designs are meant to complement individuals of all shapes and sizes and are extremely comfortable to wear.

Fendi also manufactures a sports line, but they are better know their dramatic fur collection which has been designed by Karl Lagerfeld since 1962. In 1965, Lagerfeld took over Fendi, and today, he continues to woo fashion lovers with his vision at the label and at Chanel simultaneously. Having helped previously mold Chloé and relaunching Fendi and Chanel as powerhouse labels, not to mention designing his H and M collection a few years ago, designer Lagerfeld is widely respected in the fashion industry.

Today, Fendi has become an international success story, employing over 380 workers in over 100 boutiques around the world. For a long time, luxury houses Prada and LVMH owned stakes at Fendi. But in 2001, Patrizio Bertelli sold Prada's stake to LVMH due to mounting debt. Currently, LVMH owns majority of the shares in Fendi. Karl Lagerfeld designs the womenswear collection.
